Yesterday, I hit the stage at the Chateau Lafayette to talk about my book. Well… shuffle awkwardly, clear throat… aside from a raging case of stage fright and the sudden urge to fake my own death, it actually went pretty well!
The Laff? Best bar in Canada and the UK. How do I know? Simple—I’m a drinker, and I know my pubs. I spent 25 years in Glasgow, where pubs are landmarks. You give directions by them—“Head down to the Wee Man’s, hang a left at Baird’s Bar.” Trust me, I’ve been around. The Laff wins. Hands down.
The food? Unreal. Yesterday, I had a cheeseburger—hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. Juicy, succulent, absolute perfection.
The staff? They actually care. Not just polite—they look after you like you’re a regular, even if it’s your first time through the door. Attentive, genuine, and always up for a bit of banter.
An easy 10 out of 10—no question. If I could give it more, I would. Places like the Laff are rare.
Next time you find yourself in the ByWard Market, do yourself a favour—stop in and check them out. Trust me, it’s the kind of place you’ll be glad you discovered.
